Mr. G's Journals:

#1 - 11/18 - Photosynthesis. Read page 48 and the diagram on page 49. Summarize.  Be sure to list the reactants and products.  Watch the video.  Click HERE to watch the video.

#2 - 11/28 - Cellular Respiration.  Read page 50 and the diagram on page 51. Summarize.  Be sure to list the reactants and products.

#3 - 11/29 - Read "Fermentation" on pages 52-53. Summarize.  Be sure to explain the two types of fermentation AND the applications/uses.

#4 - 11/30 - Watch the simulation on the cell cycle.  Write a summary of the cell cycle (drawings are acceptable).  Click HERE to go to the simulation.

#5 - 12/1 - Read pages 56-59. Explain the concepts of diffusion, concentration and osmosis. Summarize.

#6 - 12/2 - Read pages 60-61. Explain Active Transport and the processes of endocytosis and exocytosis.

#7 - 12/5 - Cell Cycle. Copy the diagram on page 81.

#8 - 12/6 - Mitosis. Use your notes or page 83 to 1. Name 2. Draw 3. Describe the four phases of mitosis.

#9 - 12/7 - Cytokinesis. Read pages 84-85. Summarize.

#10 - 12/8 - Summarize the big ideas of Unit 4. You can use pages 38 and 70 to help identify the main ideas.

Mr. R's Journals: (tentative!)

11/30/15-Read p.48. What is PHOTOSYNTHESIS?  List things that are needed (reactants) and things that are made (products).  Click HERE to watch the video.

12/1/15-Read p.47. Describe CHEMICAL ENERGY. Why is chemical energy important?

12/2/15-Read p.50-51. Describe CELLULAR RESPIRATION. List things that are needed (reactants) and things that are made (products).

12/3/15-Read p.52-53. Describe FERMENTATION. List things that are needed (reactants) and things that are made (products).

12/4/15-Read p.56-57. What is DIFFUSION? Why does diffusion occur?

12/7/15-Cornell Notes: DNA, CHROMOSOMES, GROWTH, DEVELOPMENT, REPAIR

12/8/15-Read p.80. Describe the CELL CYCLE. List the 2 main parts.  Click HERE to go to the simulation.

12/9/15-Read p.81. What is INTERPHASE? Why is it important?

12/10/15-Read p.82-83. Describe MITOSIS. List the 4 stages of mitosis and 1 fact about each stage. Click HERE to watch the video.

12/11/15-Read p.84-85. Describe CYTOKINESIS. How does it differ in animals vs. plants?

12/14/15-Unit 4 Journal Book Due

OLD Journal Topics:

11/29 - Video Journal: Watch the video on Mitosis and Meiosis.  Take notes and write a summary. Click HERE to watch the video.

11/30 - Watch the simulation on the cell cycle.  Write a summary of the cell cycle (drawings are acceptable).  Click HERE to go to the simulation.

12/1 - Cornell Notes - NO regular journal!

12/2 - Yellow Ribbon Week Presentation - NO regular journal!

12/3 -  Mitosis and Cytokinesis: Using Wednesday's Cornell notes, describe in detail the process of mitosis and cytokinesis.

12/6 - Video Journal: Watch the 2 short videos on Photosynthesis.  Take notes and write a summary.  Click HERE to watch the video.

12/7 - Cornell Notes - NO regular journal!

12/8 - Cellular Respiration: Read pages 50-51 then write a summary.

12/9 - Microscope Journal!  Use the Onion Root slide to identify stages of Mitosis.  Identify and draw two stages of mitosis.  Label parts of the cell in each drawing.

12/10 - Unit 4 Quiz 2 and complete cell drawings using Google Docs. NO regular journal!

12/13 - Read "Fermentation" on pages 52-53.  Write a summary and explain how fermentation is different than cellular respiration.

12/14 - Read about diffusion and concentration on pages 56-57.  Explain these two concepts.

12/15 - Journals are DUE.  No regular journal.  Journals will begin for Unit 5 in January.
